South Indian temples were the fount head of music, dance, poetry and literature for centuries. They have also nurtured the tradition of offering the best of creativity to the Almighty – a beautiful tradition that not only helped preserve the vibrancy and purity of art but also made humility swell in the heart of the artists and the innocent rasikas.

With time, the concert ambience shifted to sabhas. But a temple concert by a committed artist is still a cherished and sought after experience.

‘Kapaleeshwaram’ is a live audio – video recording of Vijay Siva’s Concert at the Panguni festival (20th March 2014 ) of Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Chennai. With both the ambience and music being deeply traditional, it attempts to recapture the concert experience of about three hundred years ago.

The rapport with an alert and involved audience adds a unique flavor to this musical offering by the artist and his team.
